چکیده

In this research, we introduce a reasonable noise model for range data which is obtained by a laser radar range jnder, and derive two simple approximate solutions of the optimal local planejtting the range data under the noise model. Then we compare our methods with the general least-squares based methods, such as Z-function fitting, the eigenvalue method, and the maximum likelihood estimation method, as well as the re-normalization method, which is an iterative method to obtain the optimal fitting of planes of range data under the noise model. All the methods are compared and evaluated using both synthetic range data and real range data with ground truth. From the experimental evaluation results, the proposed methods are shown to be effective, and the general least-squares-based methods are shown to be unsuitable for the assumed noise model.

Modeling the Thermodynamic Properties of Solutions Containing Polymer and Electrolyte with New Local Composition Model

A new theory model based on the local composition concept (TNRF-modified NRTL (TNRF-mNRTL) model) was developed to express the short-range contribution of the excess Gibbs energy for the solutions containing polymer and electrolyte. An equation represented the activity coefficient of solvent was derived from the proposed excess Gibbs energy equation. The short-range contribution of interaction ...

Potential Global-Local Inconsistency in Species-Area Relationships Fitting

The Species-Area Relationship (SAR) has been widely employed to assess species diversity and predict species extinction. Thus far, although many functions were proposed to fit SAR based on field observations or simulation results, the shape of SAR curve has been debated extensively over decades. Here we uncover a potential global-local inconsistency in SARs fitting simulation blocked by the lim...

A novel Local feature descriptor using the Mercator projection for 3D object recognition

Point cloud processing is a rapidly growing research area of computer vision. Introducing of cheap range sensors has made a great interest in the point cloud processing and 3D object recognition. 3D object recognition methods can be divided into two categories: global and local feature-based methods. Global features describe the entire model shape whereas local features encode the neighborhood ...
